The King's Portrait by SonGoharotto The King's Portrait by SonGoharotto
Whew, I'd forgotten how good it feels to start and finish a project in a single day.

I must admit that I cheated a bit. The centerpiece of this pic is traced from a sketch by Mike Mignola himself. I just cleaned it up and made some modifications to suit my purposes, then got carried away and dressed it up with the frame and Hellboy's "astute observation."

I figured the best way to give him credit was to stick his signature in there. (That's mine to the right.) :)

Psychoanalysis time!

The aura surrounding the crown sure is huge. The elephant (Babar) is symbolic of a number of goals...

Stating the obvious, I know.
But I seriously love it, Son Go.

Some weeks ago, I heard a reading of the original Babar story on the radio. Having been one of the classics I was exposed to as a child, it made me a tad nostalgic.

(Babar also gets a mention in The New Traveller's Almanac. [link])

This seemed like a perfect fit.
